It starts with a name

Parents lament about it for months and even family arguments can arise about the name of a new life in the family. A name will dictate the first impressions that others will receive about a person even if the person is not "in person" to receive the reaction (like my school pal Rainie Day Gardener got a few laughs without her being there for the laugh) Much time and effort is put into the life of a new creation. Companies like Dell, Chevrolet,Hallmark and others probably did not realize the "power" those names would command in their industries once they got started.
Or even Destiny Hope Cyrus ...as her humble beginnings I am sure for 14 years did not know she would change her name to Miley Ray Cyrus after a Disney hit show character.

Names show personality, display strength and precede us in more places than we can imagine.

The name of my venture one might wonder ?
Yes , that too has planned purpose and a power to it.
Located in the oldest book to travel the world is a story about two men. Both of them having the simple desire to build an abode to get out of the pending inclement weather. One man chooses the easier route. It requires less work which ultimately meant less sweat, tears, and more free time. ( Yes one would think this sounds like many of the population today but this story is thousands of years old ... let's continue) The other man knows that putting some thought and effort into his choices is very important to the success of this home building. His desire is to have something that will stand the biggest, nastiest storms and protect him from harm. His plan would give him less time for relaxation and fun, make his muscles hurt, work long hours, and overall... it was a challenge. His plan, you might ask ? He chose to build his home upon a rock. Building on the rock would require him to carry the materials to the rock, carrying them up the rock and then constructing his home. A difficult task in an era that did not have bulldozers and other mechanical devices, such an effort was done with back breaking, callus making old fashioned hard work ! As expected the storms did come and the "foolish" man who built is home on the sand experienced that his foundation of sand would wash away and he was left with nothing. The "wise" man and his home weathered the storm and stood strong !

A variety of life events can relate to this story.....friendship, marriage, a business or even your own day to day life.

For me.... it was choosing the name for my adventures that I wanted to have meaning. A premise to stand on as I have weathered some nasty storms, to enjoy on the pleasant days, and to be secure in when those storms might arise again. S.T.A.R. is actually an anagram for something more important. It can be found in my Partylite team name HeavenSTARlites to my crafting business and to eventually my writing travels in the future. S.T.A.R. stands for "Standing Tall Atop the Rock" as I made the decision 4 years ago that I would follow the route of the wiser man/woman. My foundation as a child might have had some sandy places but I now know I have choices to strengthen that foundation with faith, courage, and the desire to make an impact on the planet. Whether that impact is pea sized to comet sized it is my goal to follow another wise mom's saying of "You should always leave a place better than you found it".

Every person has a name, a fresh start, a clean slate ( that by the way can be wiped clean and start over ! ), and a story to create. It all starts with a name as you the author can create the setting, details, plot, and ending. Do not let the name define you, but you define the name to the world !
